At Mponela Secondary School, we believe that every student has the potential to achieve greatness. Success is not determined by where you come from, but by your determination, discipline, and willingness to learn. Let every challenge be an opportunity to grow, every setback a lesson, and every achievement a stepping stone to greater heights. Dream big, work hard, stay focused, and never stop believing in yourself. Your future is bright, and your journey to excellence starts today. Quality Education Is Here.

On behalf of Mponela Secondary School’s Teaching Staff and the School Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome all prospective students, parents and guardians to MPSS. At MPSS we believe in building character and empowering students with skills, attitudes and knowledge necessary to excel in both academic and social life to effectively participate and contribute to the development of our beautiful nation and local communities.

Mponela SS was established in 1994 under the headship of Mr. Davie Mandala. Then, the school had only four teachers. Madam Magai was the only female teacher. The school established itself to the current place on 15th April, when MASAF erected two blocks of two classrooms each.

The school had only a single stream. The enrolment was 240 students but the capacity of the school was 200 students. In 2010, the African Development Bank through the Ministry of Education Science and Technology constructed four large Classrooms, a Laboratory, Administration Block, Latrines, a Library and a Cement Block fence around the structures.

MPSS has now 51 teachers, six HODs, a Head teacher and two Deputy Head Teachers. The school is double shifts,  with official capacity of 1200 students gender responsively. We receive 300 students in Form 1 annually and currenlty we have approximately 1800 including ODL students.

To be the best provider of quality education to students for a sustainable social economic development.

To facilitate effective and eficient teaching and learning using appropriate resources and methods that are learner centred.
